One for the grid! What an absolute honour to inter One for the grid! What an absolute honour to interview @naima_brown_official about her new book Mother Tongue at the recently reopened Lismore library last night. Naima is such a sparkling talent and excellent interviewee (and all-round good human) so her conversations are always deeply interesting and fun. We chatted about the inspiration behind her book, the way language shapes our reality, the double standards women face as mothers, the cost of identity seeking and reinvention, and the creative process. Lots of audience questions, especially from the younger members of the crowd, which was so heartening 🥹 I highly recommend adding Mother Tongue to your TBR - it’s one of those books you’ll be thinking about for ages 🥐 PS thanks @readingforkeeps for being our official photographer for the night 📸
